Switches Cisco Catalyst 4900 Series designed for data centers (data center) and aggregation of devices in a rack. Switches Catalyst 4900 are powerful fixed configuration devices for building a network center and interconnecting networks. Models have high throughput and high density of high-speed ports on a small chassis. Cisco Catalyst 4900 support full concurrent routing IPv4 and IPv6.
Switch line Catalyst 4900 includes models with 48-ports 1 Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000BASE-T) and uplinks with speed 1GbE SFP and 10GbE SFP+, and modular switch with 8-Yu built-in ports X2 10 GigabitEthernet and 2 expansion slots for modules (optionally supported modules on 20 ports GigabitEthernet, 8 ports 10GbE, 4 or 8 ports 10 Gigabit Ethernet X2). Also, expansion modules support adapters with X2 into optics at speeds 1GbE and 10GbE.
To the main features switches Cisco Catalyst 4900 can be attributed to the high switching speed (before 136 Gbps in models 4948 10G, and before 320 Gbps in the model 4900M), compact size 1RU (2RU model 4900M), Bandwidth before 250 mpps, low latency switching at L2-L4 level, uplink ports 1 Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet, optional internal AC or DC power supplies and hot-swappable redundant cooling module 1 + 1.
For Series Catalyst 4900 there are two sets of functions image (Cisco IOS feature set):
- IP Base image - standard firmware level 3 with support RIPv1, RIPv2, static routes and a stub on EIGRP.
- Enterprise Services image - extended firmware with the addition OSPF, IS-IS, EIGRP, border Gateway Protocol (BGP), AppleTalk, and Internetwork Packet Exchange (IPX).
