Optical transceiver (translated from English TRANSmitter - is the transmitter and reCEIVER - receiver) — is a special, special device that is used in network equipment to receive and transmit data between remote devices, such as: switches, routers, multiplexers and other telecommunications equipment. Data transmission is carried out by transforming the transmitted signal from optical to electrical and vice versa. The transceivers also provide interaction between the internal interface of the network device and the interface of the transmission medium, acting as an interface converter.
Optical SFP transceivers HPE Aruba used in Aruba network equipment and HPE OfficeConnect.
The following types are most commonly used:
- 100Base-LX — 100 megabit over fiber per 10 km.
- 100Base-T — 100 megabit over copper per 100 m.
- 1000Base-LX — 1000 megabit over fiber per 10 km.
- 1000Base-T — 1000 megabit over copper per 100 m.
- 1000Base-ZX — 1000 megabit over single-mode fiber for 70 km.
- 10GBase-LR — 10GE over single-mode fiber per 10 km.
