40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+, 1310nm, LC Connector, transmission length of up to 10km on SMF

Optical modules Extreme Networks serve to convert an electrical signal into an optical one and to transmit and receive data over a fiber optic line. Most optical modules are equipped with a receiver and a transmitter. There are many types of optical modules Extreme Networks, with different characteristics, for example. data transfer rate, form factors, operating range.

To transmit an optical signal, they are mainly used MultiMode (multimode) fiber or Singlemode (single mode) fiber. When transmitting data using two-fiber optical transceivers, Tx, Transmitter (optical emitter) and Rx, Receiver (photodetector). Modules using WDM technology WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) allow data to be transmitted over a single fiber using different wavelengths while saving fiber. With technologyCWDM (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) up to 8 duplex channels can be achieved on a single fiber (the signal is divided in 20nm steps from 1270nm to 1610nm) over long distances up to 160 km. DWDM technology (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) can provide 60 full duplex channels.

SFP module Extreme Networks transmit data at a speed 100 Mb or 1Gb, thanks to the compact size, it is possible to increase the density of ports up to 52 pieces in one unit. SFP+ modules do not differ in size from SFP modules, and can transfer data 10 times faster (10Gb).XFP module slightly different in size from SFP, and used for long distance transmission. QSFP and CFP are larger and can operate at speeds 40Gb and 100Gb.
