Optical Transceivers Juniper Designed for converting an electrical signal into an optical signal to transmit data over a fiber optic line and receive it back into an electrical signal at the other end. Each optical module is equipped with a receiver and a transmitter (laser). Currently, there are many varieties optical modules Juniper, depending on the form factor, operating range, data transfer rate and network operating environment. Transceivers Juniper produced for switch lines (eg. EX Series), routers (eg. MX Series) and other devices.

SFP module (Small Form-factor Pluggable) can transmit data at 1Gb speed over various distances, and thanks to its small size, the port density can be increased to 52 pieces in one unit. SFP+ module are identical in size to SFP modules, and can transmit data at speeds 10Gb.

For the transmission of optical signals, multimode is usually used (Multiode) fiber and single-mode (SingleMode) fiber. In dual-fiber optical transceivers, an optical emitter is used to transmit data (Tx, Transmitter) and photo receiver (Rx, Receiver). Such modules use two fibers and one operating wavelength for transmission in two different directions. Single-fiber transceivers work in pairs, transmission in two different directions over a single fiber is performed at two operating wavelengths. Transmission and reception signals are separated inside the module using the built-in WDM-multiplexer.

Various types of connectors can be used to connect to the optical line. eg LC Type (used in dual-fiber and single-fiber modules), or SC Type (in single-fiber modules).

module XFP in size slightly larger than SFP, and can transmit data over long distances. QSFP and CFP module can operate at speeds of 40Gb and 100Gb, and accordingly they are larger in size, t.to. operate at higher frequencies and must have good heat dissipation.

Module using wavelength division multiplexing (WDM technology - Wavelength Division Multiplexing) allow you to transmit data over one fiber using different wavelengths, saving fibers. With technology CWDM (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) can achieve up to 8 full-duplex channels over a single fiber (the signal is divided in 20nm increments in the range from 1270nm to 1610nm) over long distances up to 160 km.DWDM technology (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) can provide 60 full-duplex channels.

Most optical modules support the function DDM (Digital Diagnostics Monitoring). This feature digitally controls the performance parameters of the optical transceiver, allows you to monitor the voltage in real time, temperature module, signal levels and other parameters.
